A kid’s life is usually dominated by either the parents or
teachers. Sometimes this so-called support goes so much out of control that the
children become dependent for all their needs on their guardians. When classroom
activities are assigned, such students are not able to perform well since they
always look out for someone to rescue them. A little guidance and assistance is
okay, but never let it reach to the extent that you render your child helpless at
crucial times. One must inculcate self-study habits in their children if they
want them to thrive in their academics.
Following are the steps that must be
taken:
Ø Provide a well-lit, comfortable study
space for your child. This place may be quiet or may have a little background
noise. Make sure to assign such a place which has all the necessary stationery
items which would be needed by your child while homework done.
Ø While preparing your child to create
better study habits, parents must take an initiative by helping out their child
to be organized. A planner is usually kept to track a record of all the
assignments and tests given by the teachers of every course. One must help
their child to star the ones which are important and also the ones that would need
a lot of time to complete. Knowing how to prioritize work is really important
for your child.
Ø Also instill the importance of time
management in your child by helping out your child to determine the time it
takes to complete certain tasks. Instead of procrastinating, your child will
become habitual of dividing longer projects into smaller sections in order to
complete the task on time.
Ø Setting up a routine for your child
as per his/her individual preferences is another crucial step. Some students
prefer studying right after returning from school, while some need to have a
lunch break and even a little siesta before starting on the assignments.
Ø Lastly, in order to make your child
more self-sufficient, review his/her assignments, but don’t rectify the wrong
answers yourself. A better way is to point the mistakes out rather than
correcting it on your own. Once your child develops this reviewing habit on
his/her own, stop stepping in so that your child does not feel intimidated by
you and would gain confidence in return. for more detail visit :http://goo.gl/GIoGxM
